Career Objective:
To deliver
skill building activities and experiences to parents, grand-parents, children
and other family members in the area served by the Ministry of Children and
Families, Clearwater, BC, through home visits, handouts, charts, diagrams,
exercises, games, discussion, journaling, collage, in consultation with other
professionals.
Skills and
Abilities:
Communication:
Good written and
oral
presentation skills. Good use of “body language,” facial expression, gesture
and tone of voice to convey meaning. Liaison between groups, including between
“authority figures” and family members. Special focus on accommodating to
beginners and others who feel reluctant to try something new. Adapts vocabulary
to listener. Willing to seek correction, input, information and guidance from
superiors. Very sensitive and intuitive to the needs of others.
Effective
Communication skills: Interview,
listen, feedback, connect, introduce, encourage, inquire, respond, record and
report. Illustrate new ideas with examples, use of metaphor, use of humour,
establish connections through common experience.
Problem-solving:
Effective at seeing
problems through another’s perspective while also seeing the vision of changes
possible that will bring solutions. Able to see the steps necessary to achieve
a goal. Able to analyze and evaluate the parts and the whole. Takes initiative
in new territory. Works well within existing systems while opening up new
possibilities. Sees wide variations of possibilities within existing
limitations. Continues to lead with a purpose while balanced with a spontaneous
kaleidoscope of playful potential to redirect energy towards the goal.
Organization: Persistent at interviewing, researching,
prioritizing and compiling new information. Well organized to gather and
synthesize resources. Able to meet deadlines. Able to effectively multi-task.
Conveys organizational skills useful in the home with family members in a
sustainable way.
Creativity:

musical. Effective use of
visual displays and charts.
Encourages others
to add their creativity. Enthusiastic. Uses music to convey message to children
(i.e.: tempo, change of activity, quiet time, transitions, encourage
cooperation, use of rhythm in activities, build positive memories).
Self-starter: Identifies individual, family and group
needs and responds accordingly. Able to redirect others to meet goal. Willing
to discard goal and begin again, recreating activities to adapt to current
interests of participants. Draws from decades of experience and a wealth of
supplies to quickly improvise and change to actives led by individual’s or
family’s interests or problems. Designs and initiates projects specific to
needs expressed or observed. Manages time, resources, money and human
resources. Dedicated worker without close supervision.
